STEPHENS CITY REAL ESTATE AND PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES:
Real and Personal Property tax bills are due upon receipt. However, if you pay your bill after December 7, 2009, you will be charged a 10% penalty. Should you have any questions please contact Town Treasurer, Kim Uttenweiler at kuttenweiler@stephenscityva.us or 540-869-3087.
Town Notice:
It is illegal for anyone; this includes property owners, tenants, plumbers or contractors to open a water meter box without permission by the Town Office.
There are liability and safety issues and the Town has installed many sensitve and expensive radio transmission water meters at many locations which could be damaged.
All property owners and tenants should be familiar with the location of the cut off valve for the water lines into each home or place of business and not rely on the water meter valve. These individuals valves should be checked to see if they work and if not, they should be replaced. If the valve to the property needs to be replaced, the water meter meter valve will have to be shut off. In that case, it will be necessary to make arrangements with the Town to have the meter turned off.
Anyone found in violation of this regulation is subject to paying a fine and any damages that may have occurred.

Stephens City Motor Vehicle License Notice:
The Town of Stephens City is selling permanent decals for each motor vehicle, motor cycle and trailer within the town limits. The cost of decals is $25.00 per vehicle and $12.50 per motor cycle and trailer. The Town citizens must purchase and display decals by February 15, 2009 to avoid penalities or fines. Decals may be purchased at the Stephens City town office located at 1033 Locust Street or via mail, at P.O. Box 250, Stephens City, VA 22655. Personal property taxes must be paid up to date in order to purchase a decal. Frederick County, Va or other jurisdictional decals are not valid substituitons for the Stephens City vehicle license.
Projects:
Main Street Restriping: Currently, Main Street is going through a small makeover and being restriped. The project is currently 75% complete. There are several crosswalks left to be striped across Main Street along with additional signage. While striping of the crosswalks is taking place there will be some minor delays in traffic.
